About Bomber Bait Company
Ike Walker and C.S. Turbeville founded the Bomber Bait Company in 1946 in North Texas. The company began its life in Turbeville’s garage before expanding. The Bomber lure was the twosome’s answer to the problem that they had been trying to answer based on their experiences with fishing in areas with lots of structure and brush. What was needed was a lure that could dive deep but not tangle and snag in the obstacles. The Bomber was just that lure. It would dive deep and not hang and snag. The first Bombers were made of metal and wood, although they experimented with using plastic in the 1940’s.
At first, the Bomber was the only lure available. Later creations included the Bomberette in the late 1940’s, the Bomber Water Dog in the mid-1950’s, and a top water lure known as the Top Bomber.
